Here's where we stand on support of AMC Regulation Bill

UPDATE on AMC Bill!

We are making progress!  Dave Cozzarelli and I met with Rep. Tolson today, he is not on Finance or Commerce, but one more vote if we get to that point. I sent out an email today to all the reps on Commerce and Finance committees lists, that Dawn prepared, way to go Dawn!  I have had good luck getting email appts and then going by in person.  Dave has been doing a little of everything, calling, letters, visits, etc.  We have noticed that it really makes a difference if you are a constituent and not just “some appraiser”.  We have been contacting ‘local appraisers’ to go with us on our visits to the Reps, and it is making a difference.

Dave brought up a good point that I had not heard.  He said we need to be sure that we mention that we are NOT lobbyists.  I wanted to pass this on to you to make sure that everyone was clear on this and was mentioning it in their communications with the Reps.

 Anyone else working on contacting the Reps personally, please focus on these committee Reps for now. I have talked to several Reps who have told us that if we don’t get the committee Reps behind us, it won’t matter. Getting these committee members are CRITICAL for us to get this to the floor.  Once on the floor, we need 60 votes for passage, but if it does not make it to the floor, then the point is moot…

Triangle Chapter is planning a meeting on March 18^th to rally support and inform appraisers how to get out there and support the bill.  If anyone would like to attend the meeting feel free to do so.  We have the location and time pending how many responses we get, we may need a bigger location! Ask Dawn for more information. 

I would like to get an idea for an article in the Scope if anyone would like to tell their story about contacting Reps.  I think it would be a good idea to run the Scope before the March meeting of TCNCPAC, if that time frame suits everyone.  So please suggest ideas for articles, so forth that I could include.  If I don’t have enough articles, I will wait and run it around April 1^st.

I would like to put together a Tally board of all the Reps we have on Board already.  If anyone  would like to send me their list, I will keep track.  These are the ones I know of who have said they would help and I have their personal commitment or a letter from them saying they support it.  Some of these are one’s Dave has talked to, I know I don’t have all of them Dave, so let me know who I have missed.
