Appraisal Officer Mar. 22, 2010 - Apr. 22, 2010 Location: Asheboro, NC Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt Employment Type: Full Time Department: Credit Administration Description: Responsible for receiving and tracking real estate appraisal requests from lending or credit staff; determining appropriate appraisal type and/or format to fulfill request; select and engage qualified appraisal vendors; receive completed appraisal report, review report for reasonableness, accuracy, and compliance with terms of engagement; document appraisal review; forward appraisal report with review to requesting lender or credit officer; process appraisal invoices through Bank's accounts payable system; complete evaluation of residential or undeveloped properties as requested by lending staff in compliance with Bank policy; perform occasional evaluations of commercial properties as directed by credit staff. Duties: Manages appraisal or evaluation procurement process in support
of Bank credit or OREO management function:a. Receives appraisal requests
from lending personnel or credit staff. Logs appraisal request into trackings ystem. b. Determines appropriate appraisal or evaluation format to fulfill
request. c. Selects appraisal vendor from Bank-approved list, or qualifies
extra-list vendor, if necessary, to fulfill appraisal/evaluation assignment. Engages vendor on behalf of Bank. d. Communicates with appraisal/evaluation,
as needed to facilitate completion of assignment. e. Receives completed
appraisal/evaluation report from vendor. f. Reviews appraisal report for
reasonableness, accuracy, compliance with appraisal professional requirements,
and compliance with terms of engagement. Communicates with appraiser to resolve open issues. Documents review for inclusion in Bank files. g. Upon
determination of acceptability of appraisal report, forwards same to requesting loan or credit officer. Processes vendor invoice through Bank accounts payable system. h. If appraisal request can be fulfilled without the use of an
outside vendor (internal evaluations based on tax value or existing appraisal),
compiles necessary information, completes appropriate documentation. i.
Performs property evaluations at specific direction of Senior Credit
Officer. Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and
procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of
harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work
place. Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all
internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and
overall safety and soundness and the Bank?s compliance with all external
regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc. Communicates with management and staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities. Reports pertinent
information to the immediate manager as requested, or according to an
established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and
provides data to the appropriate bank personnel. Responds to inquiries
relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from other bank personnel, customers, etc., within given time frames and within established policy. Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports. Maintains an on-going awareness of new business opportunities; actively refers customers to appropriate sales personnel when these opportunities are available. Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances. Job Location ? machine Qualifications: Education/Training: A four-year college degree, with
degrees in Business Administration, Finance, or Economics, preferred. Appraisal
license required (certified residential or certified general appraiser). MAI,
SRA professional designation(s) desired. Skill(s): Proficient reading,
writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations,
communicative, and sales skills; communicates clearly in English; a through
knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank products and services; visual
and auditory skills; moderate PC skills; valid driver?s license. Experience:
Experience as a residential or general appraiser required. No prior banking
experience required.
